What has become clear over the last few months is that Game of Thrones season 6 will go about tying up some loose ends. With the return of a certain traitorous character confirmed months ago, we’ve received another interesting piece of casting which suggests the past playing a big role in shaping the future of the show.

According to agency VivienneClore (via Squareeyed), their client Paul Kaye will be appearing in the forthcoming season.

In their piece, they write: “Paul has also been busy with television roles, you can catch him in the eagerly awaited Season 6 of Game of Thrones.”

For those who don’t remember, Kaye played Thoros of Myr, the drunken red priest of the Brotherhood without Banners. His involvement is potentially significant and particularly exciting to GoT fans hoping for the realisation of the Lady Stoneheart theory (that Catelyn Stark will be resurrected and wreak bloody vengeance of the Freys in season six in a kind of Red Wedding 2.0).

According to Watchers on the Wall, Thoros’ involvement in the season may be a violent one. Their sources reportedly informed them that the character was involved in a hanging scene, with specific circumstances of the sequence remaining thin on the ground. At this time, we’re not sure if any other Brotherhood members will be returning but with the show’s premiere just a week away, we don’t have to wait long to find out!
