After his thrilling debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, the consensus among fans and critics alike was: Tom Holland is a damn fine Peter Parker. So, it will be music to the ears of fans worldwide to hear that the actor has revealed he has signed a six-film contract with Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios has long adopted a policy of tying their biggest stars down to multiple film deals and Holland, a leading figure in Hollywood’s next generation, is no different. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter – as part of a massive fluffy spread – Holland said: “They give you options, and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers. I’m unclear as to which movies, though. I do know I have three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies contracted.
“But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it. They’re very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try and fix it up so you can work around each other.”
Although we love Holland, we wish he’d been a bit clearer in his explanation or, better yet, the interview had asked for clarification. He stated he is currently contracted for ‘three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies,’ but aren’t Spider-Man movies his solo outings? It’s slightly confusing. Thinking about it, we thought Civil War would count as number one, followed by next summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. After that, he’ll probably complete his trilogy and perhaps the two Avengers movies, which would make up the six.
He may appear in more, he may appear in less. We’re just happy to have him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
