Angela Bassett has been cast in Black Panther.
The actress will play Ramonda, the mother of T’Challa, aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) in the Ryan Coogler flick.
She joins Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker and Lupita Nyong’o in the cast.
Earlier this month it was confirmed that Danai Gurira was joining the film. She will play Okoye – a member of Wakanda’s Dora Milaje. The actress is probably best known for her role as Michonne in The Walking Dead.
“I’m training right now for Black Panther, and, yes, there’s a lot of ways that they’re [The Walking Dead and Black Panther] extremely different,” she said. “I’m learning such great, awesome new things. There’s a lot of ways that, yes, one helps another. There are things about using combat that help each other. Absolutely. There’s a lot of new things to learn and I’m really enjoying. There’s so much new. Okoye is a whole ‘nother thing.”
Black Panther hits cinema screens on 16 February 2018.
