Buckle down… the Disney and 20th Century Fox deal is looking like it’s set to happen

December 6th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, it looks like, as we reckoned, the deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox is close to being closed

Yes, we’ve been reporting this for a while now, but it looks like Disney may be close to acquiring the parts of 20th Century Fox that, among other things, produce the X-Men movies.

Disney has held talks with the Rupert Murdoch-controlled media company to acquire its studio and television production assets, leaving Fox with its news and sports assets. Fox is also talking with CNBC parent company Comcast, but the talks with Disney have progressed more significantly.

While this is exciting news for Marvel fans… the X-Men and Fantastic Four back in the MCU?!.. it is worrying because the acquisition would give Disney between 30-40% of the world’s box office.

That’s one step closer to Planet Disney, folks.

Oh, and the Simpsons once again called it:

Well… someone’s having fun with the idea as Captain America and Deadpool stars Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter for some comedy shenanigans. For the record, we’d watch Evans’ idea. Just sayin’:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
