Where will Castle Rock go after Season One and what has Stephen King got to say about how to watch the series?

August 2nd, 2018 by Marc Comments

Oh, man, I am really loving Castle Rock so far…

I have been a fan of Stephen King since I was 11 and this series finally brings me to Castle Rock proper, one of the great fictional locations that, as child and man, I wished I could visit.

And while King himself has nothing to do with the series (here), it does feel like it belongs in the world(s) he created.

But one thing we were wondering was, where will it go if it gets a second season? Will it stay in the (sort of) modern Castle Rock or will it go somewhere else?

Well, we need wonder no more…

Sam Shaw, Castle Rock’s co-creator had this to say about a (potential) second season: “We hope to have the latitude to come back to future seasons and just tell a great monster story set in like 1974 or a different kind of story under the influence of a very different Stephen King novel. Our plan was always to approach each season as an unwritten Stephen King novel.”

We love this notion… next season we may see a story that happens at the same time as when Pennywise is stalking the sewers to when Cujo or Christine are patrolling the streets.

Meanwhile, in a show riddled with both obvious and not so obvious nods to King’s works like The Dead Zone, The Body, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Needful Things, Cujo, Pet Semetary and so many more, the creator of Castle Rock and the dark world it sits upon, Stephen King, has some advice for fans of his work watching the show:

It all works for us…

What are you all thinking of Castle Rock so far? Let us know…

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock.

Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
