It looks like Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye character from the MCU is finally going to get the recognition he deserves.
Disney+, the upcoming streaming service, is developing a limited series based in the MCU’s answer to Green Arrow and Robin Hood, Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye.
“The project is said to be an adventure series in which Barton will pass the torch to Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Barton. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers.”
Renner first joined the MCU in Thor and has since appeared in Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War and it looks liek he will have a significant role in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.
The character has long been a fan favourite and one who the fans have wanted to see developed and now, while it’s not a big-screen outing, the character will likely get a six or eight-hour series… but it looks like it will be a passing of the torch.
Is this the end of Hawkeye in the MCU? Or will he continue as Ronan – the character he presumably becomes in the movies after his family dies thanks to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet?
Who knows?
All we know is he will be joining the likes of Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision on the streaing service later this year.
