Some more good news today for filming and for fans of Lord of the Rings.
It seems that that Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series, which was filming in New Zealand until filming was halted due to that damned virus, has confirmed three major characters in the world of LOTR.
We know that the Amazon Prime series will not be based on Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, but will rather focus on the whole mythology of Middle Earth as laid out by JRR Tolkien in general, being loosely based around the Silmarillion.
The first two episodes of what is being touted as the costliest TV series ever made, are set to be directed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s JA Bayona and has, as we begin to fall back into normal life, resumed filming.
It will also, according to The One Ring (below), feature Sauron, Galadriel and Elrond who are all major players in what is called the early wars of the ring during Middle Earth’s second age. It is unknown, but unlikely, if the series will cast Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving to return as Galadriel and Elrond respectively – Sauron had no actor in the movies, being mostly a disembodied flaming eye.
So, there you go fans… are you excited for these characters to be appearing? What do you hope we will see in the series? Let me know in the usual host of ways, gang.
Lord of the Rings SDCC update: JA Bayona is CURRENTLY filming in New Zealand, the biggest production in the world to resume filming post-COVID.
