A new rumour suggests that fans of Solo: A Star Wars Story are finally going to get the continuation/ending they’ve been waiting for since the movie arrived in 2018.
We already know that Donald Glover will be returning for a Lando series on Disney+ which we hoped might give us some closure to the cliffhanger ending Solo gave us, but this new series – if it happens – will almost certainly wrap things up and tie into both Clone Wars and Rebels.
Fans will recall that at the ending of Solo saw Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra betraying Han (Alden Ehrenreich) and taking over The Crimson Dawn crime syndicate run by her ex-boss Dryden Vos (Paul bettany) but just when we thought we knew it all, a hologram opened up to reveal that Darth Maul, or Maul at this point, was ultimately the boss of the syndicate.
And we all left the cinema buzzing… the hardcore fans excited and knowing how Maul is back, the more casual fans completely confounded about what they just watched.
But now, it seems that Clarke, set for her MCU debut in Secret Invasion (here), is coming back to Star Wars as Qi’ra is set for her own Disney+ series.
The character of Qi’ra has recently appeared in the comics, appearing in the War of the Bounty Hunters series, which excited Clarke: “It means the absolute world. I know her backstory. I know her history. Maybe the movie didn’t get to go there, but that was such an honor and a privilege to be part of that universe as an actor. So then, to see the character actually be taken on to the origin of all of it — bringing it on home to the family in that way – cemented it in a way. I was not expecting to feel as moved as I was by that.”
But it’s looking more and more like the star will have her own series in which she will be a crime boss and taking her orders from Maul himself – Maul was set to get his own series a while back but things went, em, a little ka-ka (here)) who is unlikely to be played this time out by Ray Park.
It’s interesting that in the currently airing Book of Boba Fett, we have got the feeling that Fett will run up against The Crimson Dawn crime syndicate as he’s trying to reclaim Jabba the Hutt’s criminal underworld, so it’s not entirely unlikely that Qi’ra could make her grand return in the next few episodes, setting up her own series… could she meet Han again in the show (here)?
Man, I know there’s a lot of disgruntled fans out there, always finding something to be unhappy about, but I’m loving the current wealth of Star Wars goodness we’re getting.
What about you all? Let me know…
