Ok, look, to me, I always felt that Harry Potter belonged to the Christmas season and so, as a dad and a fan, I am very excited to see what HBO does with the new Harry Potter series when it airs this festive season… but… I can’t help it; it still looks sooooooo much like the movies.
Am I hopeful? Yes, mostly. But I really hope they can go beyond the appearance and find their own voice in the Potterverse.
A new era of Hogwarts begins. The HBO Original Series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres this Christmas on HBO Max.
The series, which is a fresh take on JK Rowling’s iconic creation, will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and has got one heck of a cast in the adult roles too with John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

We also have our first look at Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout as Harry, Hermione and Ron on the set of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which is currently filming and is expected to air Christmas 2027.
