Titan Comics’ War of the Worlds: Thunder Child graphic novel follows the crew of the eponymous ironclad torpedo ram, the HMS Thunder Child, as they face the Martian invaders from H.G. Wells’ classic 1898 science-fiction tale War of the Worlds.
The story unfolds against the backdrop of strange occurrences, culminating in the Thunder Child’s final heroic showdown.
This is a terrifying and thrilling story soaked in blood, sacrifice, and loss – the first act in a new take on the well-known classic, featuring a unique cast and its own story to tell.

It is a tale of horrors and conflicts of the crew as they experience the first desperate days of the Martian invasion and face the possible collapse of civilisation itself, threatened both from the stars… and from within.
The team working on War of the Worlds: Thunder Child share an impressive background. Writers Matt Hardy (Cadavers, Last Exit to Brighton) and Rob Jones (Hell in Stalingrad) teamed up with artist Kevin Castaniero (The Reason for Dragons, Cocaine Disco) to bring to life this dramatic original graphic novel that parallels the events in the classic story.
“We set out to make this both a contemporary piece that could be accessible to new readers whilst also something that fans of the book, the musical, or any other adaptation of Wells’ work would enjoy,” said artist Rob Jones about adapting H. G. Wells’ classic.

Matt Hardy, the writer and editor behind War of the Worlds: Thunder Child, emphasised how the artwork enhances the story: “Kevin Castaniero’s detailed, sometimes brutal art and his ability to convey the painful emotions have elevated the impact of our story and its power to resonate with readers.”
The graphic novel will come with a special DM edition cover by Norm Konyu (Downlands), which will be exclusive for comic shops.
