We’ve known for a while now that George Clooney has been planning a return as Danny Ocean and now it seems it’s about to film next year and the gang’s all back.
Based on the 1960 Rat Pack movie, Clooney stepped into the role of casino thief Danny Ocean – originally played by Frank Sinatra – in 2001’s Ocean’s 11, then again in 2004’s Ocean’s 12 and then in 2007’s Ocean’s 13 and now he’s stepping up once again.
There was a 2018 spin-off starring Sandra Bullock as Ocean’s sister, Debbie, but it was a failure, although it’s still part of the series, so while Clooney will have starred in four, including the new entry, there are five movies in all.

According to Variety, in a new interview with the star, Ocean’s 14 will not be going down the now all too familiar nostalgia route but rather will explore what it is to be getting older – Clooney wants to explore what it’s like to pull off a heist when you’re no longer young and spry. He was inspired by the movie “Going in Style,” a ’70s comedy about a group of aging criminals.
Excitingly, the cast is set to see the return of the biggest names from the previous movies with Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle all set to return, with filming aiming to go ahead next October.
“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me,” Clooney says. “They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”
The Ocean’s movies were a heck of a lot of fun – I admit, I haven’t seen the 2018 instalment – and having this cast back in this world, and no doubt a host of other stars signing on as production continues, this could be one to be excited for.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
