Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan to take over from Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm

It looks like the Chosen One has emerged from the mist…

We know that over the last couple of years there have been numerous reports of Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy stepping down but now it seems it’s actually happening, with an announcement coming soon.

Word is, she wanted a replacement in place before she stepped down and it seems that her choices have been made.

As was long rumoured, Clone Wars and Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni will be co-president to run the creative side of Lucasfilm, alongside second co-president Lynwen Brennan, who will run the executive side. Filoni is currently the chief creative officer of Lucasfilm, while Brennan is general manager.

Mark Hamill reveals JJ Abrams’ reason for not uniting Han, Luke and Leia in sequels

This is good news as Filoni has so far given us Clone Wars, Rebels, Ahsoka and The Mandalorian, although he’s been involved in all the other shows too to some level or other – he also plays X-Wing pilot Trapper Wolf in the shows (above).

While none of this is 100% confirmed yet, if I were a betting man, I would say this is exactly how it’ll play out in the next few months.

How you feel about that will vary from person to person but I know that ten years ago, I would have been jumping for joy at the news of Filoni in this role as he was a disciple of George Lucas directly and I know his knowledge of Star Wars and the lore is second ot none, I just hope over the last few years he hassn’t become too much of a company man to be concerned on telling good stories and be resepctful to the lore… and the fans.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
