Ever since the teaser dropped for Godzilla X Kong: Supernova, minds more atuned to Godzilla lore than mine, speculated that this time, Godzilla and Kong would be facing an alien threat in the shape of Space Godzilla and it seems they are right.
The Writers Guild of America has new details on Supernova and it reads: “Based on the characters “Godzilla” and “Space Godzilla” owned and created by ToHo Co., LTD.”
But just who is Space Godzilla? Well, he’s an evil clone of Godzilla that has also is a mix of… actually, you know what, here’s how Godzilla.com describes him:
Created when a destroyed Godzilla DNA-containing Biollante’s cells were cast into space, sucked through a black hole, and assimilated by cosmic crystalline life forms, SpaceGodzilla boasts unearthly powers.

A Monarch: Legacy of Monsters prequel series set during the Cold War and once again starring Wyatt Russell is reportedly in development at Apple TV. A prequel to a prequel?!
Supernova is the sixth movie in the ever-increasing Monsterverse and follows on from 2024’s Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire and it will see Dan Stevens return as Trapper alongside new cast members Sam Neill, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine and Alycia Debnam-Carey.
Alongside the Monsterverse: Declassifed graphic novel recently released along with the Skull Island comic series and the Monarch Kickstarter as well as the second season of Monarch on the horizon, this is one universe that isn’t going anywhere.
