It looks like it’s finally happening… the Mogwai are coming back to the big screen as Gremlins 3 gets a greenlight and release date!

Writer of the first two movies, Chris Columbus, is returning to the franchise, having co-written the new movie with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B Stein, who wrote Final Destination: Bloodlines, and he’s also stepping behind the camera to direct the movie, picking up from Joe Dante who directed the first two movies in the franchise.

And the best part? Well, it’s set for Christmas 2027, the best time for a Gremlins movie – fight me.

While Warner Bros is currently going through a potential buy-out, the movie has been given the go-ahead from boss David Zaslav with Steven Spielberg exec producing through Amblin.

As of now, there’s no word on if stars Zach Galligan or Phoebe Cates will return but Galligan has been outspken about the third movie for a long, long time, so I will be very surprised if he’s not involved somehow.

Gremlins 3 is expected to hit cinemas on 19th November, 2027.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
