Happy Death Day 3 is coming, says star Jessica Rothe

While I will never love an onscreen killer more than I love Ghostface, I do have several that I really like – the Grabber from the Black Phone movies is quickly becoming a favourite – and one of these is the Baby-Faced Killer from Chris Landon’s Happy Death Days movies and, added bonus, not only are they slasher movies, they also have a lot of fun with a Groundhog Day-esque time travel mystery at the heart of the story and, like many others, I am waiting for the tale to be finished in the long-awaited, will it/won’t it happen third movie.

Since the second movie came out in 2019, fans have been grabbing at any nuggets Landon or Blumhouse drop and it’s been a good news/bad news cycle ever since.

But now, star Jessica Rothe, who plays Tree in the movies, the down-on-her-luck slasher victim who is stuck in a time warp, has given us an exciting update, saying that a third movie is finally coming.

“[Landon and I are in] the longest game of phone tag in the world right now… but all I can say about it is Chris has it all mapped out and as is so evident from the first two movies, he’s just a brilliant genius man.

“All I can say is it will finish Tree’s journey, it will take the audience to places they weren’t expecting to go and never been before but it will still be kind of the same amazing cast of characters, the same amount of thrills, chills, but also big laughs and also big emotions.”

While we wait with bated breath to hear when we can expect this trilogy closer, just knowing we’re closer to it than we’ve ever been is enough… for now.
