It looks like the casting of the next James Bond is underway and the first – probably more – person has stepped into the secret agent spotlight.
Euphoria and Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi (28) has just been nominated for an Oscar for Frankenstein and also has thrown his hat on the hat-stand to play Agent 007 in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming reboot of the franchise.
Originally reported by World of Reel, the story is now being picked up by Showbiz 411 and more and we’re hearing that yes, Elordi has met with Villeneuve and Amazon/MGM about putting on the tux.
The news seems to support the opinion that this new outing would take Bond back to his younger days.
Villeneuve to direct new James Bond, Tom Holland reportedly in crosshairs for role
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” Villeneuve said.
Hinting at a big future still to come, Villeneuve said: “I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.”
The new movie is being written by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, so it’s fair to say that this new Bond is expected to be a quality affair in every department.
The movie is expected to start filming late this year or early in 2027.
