It looks like Jason Vorhees is finally returning from the dead and in a big way.

Yes, SDCC 2025 became the home of Friday the 13th today with a wealth of great stuff for fans of the hockey-masked killer.

First up was a focus on Sweet Revenge, a new horror short from Silent Night, Deadly Night director Mike P Nelson that will release next month… welcome to Horror Inc.’s Jason Universe.

Watch the teaser for Sweet Revenge:

Sweet Revenge and it’s “the centerpiece of the franchise’s bold 45th anniversary campaign”.

As per the synopsis: Fans will drop into a chilling weekend in the woods filled with blood-soaked surprises only Jason can deliver.

At the Jason Universe panel – the first in over 15 years – were Nelson, along with Horror Inc’s VP Robbie Barsamian and CMO Sheri Conn.

Barsamian was keen to share the resurrection of Jason Vorhees to the fans, saying: “I can tell you that a new sequel movie and new sequel game are at the top of our list. It’s where most of our energy’s going right now. And I can tell you finally we’re in a position to deliver on that… they’re both in the works and they’re both coming.”

Disappointingly, there was no update on the A24 Crystal Lake TV series with FTN favourite Linda Cardellini playing Jason’s murderous mother, Pamela Voorhees, and Schuyler White playing an adult Jason.

We can only hope that news on that is forthcoming.

Still, a new short, a planned movie and video game and a currently filming TV series isn’t bad for a franchise many thought was dead and gone.

Thoughts? I wanna hear ’em all.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
