It looks like things are really speeding up with the development of the new Mummy movie, much to our delight.
Back in November last year, we learned that Brendan Fraser was returning to the franchise with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence, directors of Ready or Not and Scream (2022), stepping in to helm, and now we have more details.
We now know that deals are done and that Fraser will return as Rick O’Connell, and Rachel Weisz will also return (she wasn’t in the third movie, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, replaced by Maria Bello) as Evelyn O’Connell, and, on top of this, the movie has a release date of May 19th, 2028, almost 20 years to the day after the release of the third movie in 2008.
Tidbit:
Oded Fehr, who played Ardeth in the first two movies, has recently said that while he hasn’t been asked to return for the new movie, he’s heard that there are discussions taking place.
As of now, there are no details regarding plot, but with Fraser and Weisz back and Radio Silence directing, this promises to be one to keep an eye on in the not-too-distant future.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
