It’s hardly a surprise given how big a hit Lilo & Stitch has been for Disney, but now it’s official… Lilo & Stitch 2 is coming.
The live-action adaptation of (Disney’s best movie, fight me) the 2002 original is still in cinemas and while it lacks the heart of the original, not to mention characters, it was a big hit with families, so our little blue friend is returning to screens soon.
A big part of the problem with the new movie – well, apparently it’s not THAT big of a problem – is that it was originally made as a TV series and then reworked for a cinematic release so, if nothing else, the sequel won’t have that issue.
While there’s no word yet on returning cast such as Chris Sanders as Stitch, Maia Kealoha as Lilo or director Dean Fleischer Camp, word is that the sequel will be an original story and won’t adapt any of the original movie’s direct to home release sequels.
It’s also worth noting that, as well as box office stubs, Lilo and Stitch is and has always been a goldmine for Disney, so on that front alone, a sequel was a no-brainer.
Have you seen Lilo and Stitch? Let me know your thoughts, gang.
