It looks like one of the longest-running casting rumours in MCU history has just been confirmed… or at least that it’s been discussed.
For years, Marvel fans have hoped that Ghost Rider would make his big screen debut, after all, many of his fellow ‘dark heroes’ have already done it, ranging from Doctor Strange to Punisher, via Daredevil and Man-Thing, but while a version of the character appeared in the Agents of SHIELD series (played by Gabriel Luna) – no longer canon to the wider MCU – Jonathan “Johnny” Blaze AKA the original comics Ghostrider, has yet to appear.
And while these wishes have been going on, many fans pondered on who would play Blaze/Ghost Rider and the most popular name on that list was the always great Ryan Gosling and now Gosling has revealed that he has indeed had conversations about playing the role.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (below) to promote the brilliant Project Hail Mary, the star revealed that his desire to play the character has not gone unnoticed at the house of mouse: “Some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.”
However, he does say: “We’ll keep hope alive.”
And it seems that hope does indeed spring eternal as Marvel boss Kevin Feige has recently spoken briefly about Gosling wanting to join the MCU as an angry, flaming skull, saying: “If Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider… Gosling’s unbelievable. Ryan is amazing… I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU.”

Anything to get rid of the memory of Nicholas Cage, who played Blaze/Ghost Rider not once but twice in 2007 and 2012, and both times, sadly, making a less-than-stellar impression.
So, Gosling as Ghost Rider? Like I have to ask… yeah or nay?
Thoughts? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ’em all.
