Actress shares image of her as unused Jedi Master from Star Wars Skeleton

In the most recent Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, we meet the pirate Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law and, as the show goes on, we learn he has Jedi abilities but never got the chance to become a fully-fledged member of the Jedi Academy.

In the finale, Jod reveals that as a homeless boy he was found by a Jedi and taken under her wing but before she could finish his training, she was murdered and he was made to watch.

While we learn nothing more, we can deduct that he was found in the end days of the Republic and his Jedi Master was killed during or shortly after Order 66, meaning she was killed by clones or, since Jod said he was made to watch, it was more likely to be one of Darth Vader’s Inquisitors: “When I was your age, all I cared about was not starving. I was living in a hole in the ground, and a Jedi found me. She may have been desperate and ragged like me, but she told me I had potential. And that was… Well, she only taught me a little before they hunted her down. And they made me watch whilst they killed her. That’s the galaxy. It’s dark, with a few pinpricks of light.”

However, unlike The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and other shows, we never actually got to see the flashback or the Jedi who trained him, a Jedi we now know was to be played by actress Jasmine Al Massri, left, who has taken to social media, below, and revealed her Jedi look which, sadly, never made it to screen.

Jon Watts talks Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s potential second season and beyond

In a recent interview, series co-creator Christopher Ford revealed why Al Massri’s character, along with Jod’s whole backstory, didn’t appear in the actual series: “The challenge though was, as fascinating as Jod is, we always wanted to keep it from the kids’ perspective. The kids are like, “I don’t understand this guy.” They’ve never been out in the galaxy and met someone as damaged as him. So I don’t think we could have done a flashback in this season.”

The actress herself revealed a bit more about the role and how proud she – and her son – were to play a Jedi Knight and how sorry she was that it never made it to screen; she wrote: “This was the shortest acting job I have done but the most meaningful to the child in me.. playing a Jedi for one scene in Skeleton Crew.. I gave a speech when the crew wrapped me on set saying: you just created the first Arab female Jedi.. thank you.. the scene unfortunately Didn’t make it to the finale cut bc these things happen.. but I can not not share my experience and feelings.. even Liam rehearsed that scene with me and I got to brag about it with his friends which got me coolest mom respect for a moment.”

We have no name for her character at this stage, so it’s hard to know if the actress will appear again at some stage or if she’s even considered canon anymore but there’s no arguing that, at one point, she was Jod’s Master and she was cut down in her prime after the Jedi were deemed enemies of the Empire.

Still, I would love to see her scene… maybe it will be reinstated if the series gets a second season which, sadly, seems unlikely at this stage.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I want to hear them.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
