Confirmation that The Penguin season 2 is coming

It looks like we have confirmation that Matt Reeves’ Batman universe is set to expand even further as The Penguin season 2 is officially in the works.

In a new report, Bloomberg talks about the future of Peter Safran and James Gunn’s DCU with the possible takeover by Netflix looming. We know that the duo have contracts assured until 2027 and there’s loads of DCU stuff underway but the financial magazine Bloomberg is reporting: “there’s a lot more in the works [including] a second season of The Penguin.”

Despite winning numerous awards and fan adoration (yes, it’s superb), season 2 of The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell as the titular Batman villain, was never set in stone.

Back in January, Reeves said of the future of The Batman universe: “Obviously, we’re doing The Batman 2, we want to get the timing right on that.

“Our plan and our hope is to absolutely do another season, we just have to come up with the idea that we think is the right idea, which is what we’re working on.”

Matt Reeves confirms they’re developing The Batman Part 2 and The Penguin season 2

While The Batman 2 is filming early next year, there’s still no word on when The Penguin season 2 might happen… or any of the other Batman spin-offs we’ve heard teased over the last year or two.

Would you watch a second season of the series? The Batman universe is building out slowly (one movie, one comic series, one novel and one TV series since 2022), but it really seems to be a case of quality over quantity.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
