Full cast revealed for Netflix’s new live-action Scooby-Doo series

It looks like the Scooby Gang is officially coming back to our screens as Netflix has found the full cast for their new live-action series based on the Hanna-Barbera animated series.

The streamer signed up for an initial eight episodes, and the cast will be Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley and Ghostbusters and Scream 7 star McKenna Grace as Daphne. Cobra Kai star Paul Walter Hauser has also signed on as a series regular – with early rumours saying he would be playing Scooby’s original owner.

During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.

Project Hail Mary sequel may be in the works already

Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma (Fortson), and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy (Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

The series will be the second time Mystery Inc will have been portrayed in live-action, with Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini playing Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Velma, with Neil Fanning voicing Scooby in two big screen outings in the early 2000s – there was also a couple of prequel movies in live-action, but it’s understood this new series is a wholly new take on the Scoobies and won’t tie in to any shows or movies that went before.

I am not sold on a new Scooby-Doo series, but the cast is interesting, with Grace being a particular point of interest, so I will be watching the first couple of episodes at the very least, to see if it’s worth watching the full series.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
