Some exciting news for fans of animated comedy stalwart The Simpsons as its creator Matt Groening has entered talks with Netflix over developing a brand new show.

Variety (via Squareeyed) broke the news that the streaming giant secured a deal with The Simpsons and Futarama creator, but nobody has said anything official, so details are pretty thin at the moment.

However, word is that it will be a two-season format of ten episodes each. Although Groening’s influence as a driving creative force has declined greatly on The Simpsons, there’s no denying that securing the mastermind of the most enduring, popular animated series of all time is a triumphant coup for Netflix.
