The Inbetweeners are returning for a new movie

The Inbetweeners are coming back for a third movie!

Yes, one of the funniest and most politically incorrect shows on TV is set to return to our screens for a third movie (many fans like to pretend the second one doesn’t exist, in fairness), this time on Netflix.

Last year, it was revealed that creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley had signed a new deal with production company Banijay to bring the series/movies about four secondary school pupils and their desperate struggles to fit in, to new audiences and now the first of that endeavour has seemingly been revealed.

Inbetweeners sequel in the works

According to a new report, ‘Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project. But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t in its original home on Channel 4.’

The original 2011 Channel 4 show focused on the misadventures of Will MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland and Jay Cartwright and their often toe-curlingly embarrassing efforts to be just like other kids at Rudge Park Comprehensive school. It was crude, rude and very, very funny and surprisingly honest about teen life.

Creators Morris and Beesley said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).”

That’s all we know right now, but I will keep you posted as and when more news comes out.

So, the return of the now adult Inbetweeners, are you excited? Thoughts, I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
