Could the oft-mentioned Highlander reboot be close to having its mentor figure?
Rumour is that Summit Entertainment is looking for Tom Cruise to play the character of Juan Ramirez in the upcoming Highlander reboot directed by first-timer Cedric Nicolas-Troyan.
The role of Ramirez was of course played by the great Sean Connery in the original movie and its sequel.
Rumours are that, should Cruise bite, the role could become more significant than it was in the original movie. Cruise’s representative said that: “Highlander is one of many projects that come to him [but he is] far from talks… he is offered tons of projects.”
Director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan was a second unit director and visual effects supervisor on Snow White and the Huntsman. Art Marcum, Melissa Rosenberg and Matt Holloway wrote the script while Justin Lin will executive produce – he was previously tipped to direct.
There can be only (another) one…
