With Star Wars: Episode VII not even out in cinemas yet, one could be forgiven for assuming that Episode VIII could be some way off. However, based on reports from Apple Daily, this is not the case.
According to the report, Hong Kong Superstar, Donny Yen, has been given the role of a Jedi in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Purportedly, Yen won the role over eight other actors including Jet Li, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Wang Leehom, Chang Chen, Daniel Wu and Stephen Chow. As well as this, the report seemed to confirm that Harrison Ford would be returning as Han Solo for the next film.
Before progressing onwards, it is worth noting that this article did not cite any sources or official confirmations for this story. With that being said, this piece of news is interesting. If it were true, this would throw a very popular fan theory out the window. That being that Han Solo will die at the end of Episode VII.
With less than half a year to go, we won’t have to wait to see if at least part of this article is true, when we return to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Punch it Chewie!
