An interesting reveal for Lex Luthor’s character in Batman V Superman… but does it mean anything?

It looks like Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman has a little more to his name… and that’s a Jnr.

According to Fortune, Eisenberg is Alexander Joseph Luthor Jr, son of Lex Luthor Snr. And he is now the owner of Lex Corp which was started by his father and is now a world-leading tech company.

The fictionalised profile of the character says his father was “indomitable, vicious and more than a little curious about strange meteorite crystals”.

Lex Jnr says: “Dad named the company after himself ten years before I made my unexpected entrance into his life. But investors seemed to respond to the idea of an adoring father building a legacy for his precious son. He used that to his advantage. It was a good shtick and, whatever else he was, he was a good businessman.”

Talking abut his father’s unexpected (hmmmmmmm) death in 2000, “the achievements of LexCorp’s founder pale in comparison to the astonishing accomplishments of the younger Luthor, who was the youngest ever to be named Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year and included on the magazine’s list of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders,” reads the article.

Interestingly, Lex Jnr says that his father was impressed by an oppressive leader as a young man: “He came from a country where the government, in the guise of protector, had absolute control over the citizens. That drove him. I get it. Heck, I’d hate to see that sort of thing happen over here.”

This is interesting as Lex was the President of the US in the comics… a nice little nod, perhaps? Future shadowing? Or just a fun little aside?

Many are reporting that this could be DC’s way of getting a new Lex into the movie universe if Eisenberg doesn’t meet fans’ expectations. We doubt this is the case at all. Lex’s dad was always a businessman and founder of LexCorp, so we just see this as a nod to canon.

We think Eisenberg is going to do great things as the 2016 take on Superman’s mortal enemy.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
