Is Zabka teasing new Cobra Kai series or spin-off?

October 18th, 2026 by Marc Comments

Ohhhh… are we getting more adventures from the world of Cobra Kai?

Star William Zabka, who plays Johnny Lawrence in the series (and Karate Kid movies) shared an image on Instagram of himself sitting at a table in an office with co-star Yuji Okumoto, who plays Chozen Toguchi and Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz. Zabka wrote on the post: “Somewhere in the Valley …”

But what does it mean? Well, we don’t know but having this trio together would certainly seem to be pointing to something happening, perhaps movement on a new Cobra Kai project?

Ralph Macchio talks Cobra Kai, Karate Kid Legends and the future of the ‘Myiagi-verse’

As far back as 2021, there was talk of Cobra Kai spinoffs being developed: “Our hope is that we can really expand this whole Karate Kid universe and reinvigorate the fanbase, so that it’s a story we can continue telling,” said co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg.

“Every permutation of spinoff or deep-dive crosses our minds. It all has to be the right thing, and it has to be the same level of quality that Cobra Kai is. Our minds are always thinking Karate Kid, so that possibility is definitely out there.”

We know that the Mr Miyagi prequel series was/is being developed and even the original Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio, has said that seeing more of him as Daniel LaRusso after last year’s movie, Karate Kid Legends, isn’t out of the question: “I don’t want to overstay the welcome of a character that’s so beloved, but he’s aging like I am, so there could be other areas to explore as well. Never say never.”

None of this really points to what Zabka, Okumoto and Huritz are doing together in the Valley but it definitely reminds us that Cobra Kai never dies and there may well be something afoot in the dojo for Jonny and Chozen and I am here for that.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie no longering moving forward

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
