SPOILERS ARE COMING

Apart from HBO officially beginning the countdown to season 6 last week on their Facebook page, it’s been all quiet on the Game of Thrones front lately. The leaks and reports coming out of the various filming locations have been scarce and we’re feeling a little starved of Game of Thrones season 6 spoilers.

However, our trustee old friends over at Watchers on the Wall have reported on a new and exciting ‘flurry of activity’ coming from Northern Ireland.

They quote Los Siente Reinos as saying that several key scenes are currently being filmed around Northern Ireland, including scenes with the Three-Eyed Raven’s cave, White Walkers and Castle Black. On top of that, WotW quote their own sources as saying that scenes involving Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and the Unsullied are currently being filmed in Banbridge.

Castle Black and Night’s Watch scenes were filmed in Northern Ireland over the weekend, but Kit Harington was noticeably absent. Basically, Los Siente Reinos confirm that he is indeed no longer the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and that his successor has been appointed.

We already knew that Snow wasn’t going to be the Lord Commander because he was spotted filming battle scenes during the summer but it will be interesting to see who replaces him. According to the report, his successor ‘is a character that’s been known to us for several seasons.’ Our money is on Alliser Thorne, who would be the obvious candidate, but it’s also possible it’s a character from elsewhere in Westeros!

In addition to these latest reports, spoilers last week suggested exactly how Jon Snow would return from the dead following his stabbing at the end of season 5.

Last week, spoilers from the set pointed to how exactly Jon will return from the dead following his multi-stabbing at the end of season 5.

Reports suggest that Carice van Houten’s scenes for the upcoming season were filmed in Belfast behind closed doors, making many to speculate that the Red Priestess Melisandre and her powerful magic will play a pivotal role in Snow’s resurrection. Also present on set, Watchers on the Wall claims, was the ball-on-a-stick used for scenes with Snow’s CGI direwolf, Ghost. It looks like it’s going to be highly-dramatic.

Season 6 has a release date of April, and will most likely premiere on HBO and Sky Atlantic on the 24th.
