Will the Marvel Cinematic Universe cross over with its TV counterpart? That’s the question on the minds of millions of fans across the globe. Unfortunately, for those who cling onto the hopes that Spider-Man will fight baddies alongside The Punisher will have to wait a little longer though as the possibility of a crossover looks slim at the moment.
Although the writers of Captain America: Civil War recently mentioned that there were conversations about bringing Daredevil into the film, Charlie Cox has confirmed that Marvel have not approached him about appearing in any upcoming MCU movies.
“There was no conversation about joining any of the movies,” he said via CNET (via Squareeyed). Although, the actor continued to express an interest in appearing on the big screen alongside the Avengers and the rest of the superheroes.
“Who wouldn’t want to be in the highest grossing film of all time?” Are you only in it for the money then, Charlie? Nah, just kidding.
It makes sense that Daredevil was left out of Civil War but will he eventually cross paths with The Avengers down the line? It’s clear that the fans and actors are up for it but it’s up to the powers that be in Marvel headquarters to sign on the dotted line.
“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome,” Charlie Cox said (via Independent/Comic Book).
“I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.
“In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.”
Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 was released on Netflix on March 18th, which will be followed by Luke Cage on September 30th. Iron Fist is currently gearing up for production for an early 2017 release. The Defenders, which will see Cox’s return as Daredevil, can also be expected in the same year. We are also awaiting the second season of Jessica Jones.
