It’s hard to believe that, at one point in time, Pokemon was one of the biggest brands in the world. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Pokemon is unpopular today.
The franchise still exists, and continues to thrive, in the realm of video games, but during the 90s, there were Films, Television series, toys, collectables, cards and breakfast cereals everywhere you looked. It seems that Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros and Sony remember those days, and are intent on trying to bring it back to the big screen.
Recently, The Pokemon Co. has been auctioning the rights to the franchise. The bidding has boiled down to the three aforementioned companies, who are all, purportedly, looking to turn the franchise into a series of live action films.
Honestly, I have no personal opinions on the matter yet. There has been no announcement of writers or directors, so we have no idea what direction this could take. However, I have to admit, it would be interesting seeing some of the Pokemon in live action for the first time.
