Among all the anger and comments about the Ghostbusters reboot from director Paul Feig, it seems a voice that Ghostbusters fans need to listen to, has emerged to praise the new movie.
Yes, Dan Aykroyd, creator of the Ghostbusters waaaaaaaaaaay back in the 1980s, and star of the original movies, playing Dr Ray Stantz, has gone on the record to day he’s seen the movie. And he liked it.
The actor wrote on his Whosay: “As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!”
Fair enough.
Now it’s known that Aykroyd is still a big voice in the Ghostbusters community and is an executive producer on this new one. It’s also known that he, for years, wanted to make GBIII and recently said it still might happen of this movie does well.
Plus, as the creator of the concept, he’s certainly going to want to see it keep going. So he has an interest in saying it’s good.
Or…
Maybe it is and maybe he genuinely liked it. We can be cynical if we want or we can just believe the man.
But either way, on July 22nd we’ll all know the truth.
In related news, star of the movie, Melissa McCarthy has spoken out about how she feels for those that are bad mouthing the reboot, especially any who use the ‘it ruined my childhood’ line.
While speaking to The Guardian, the actress said: “All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really. Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?
“I have a visual of those people not having a [my husband] Ben, not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet. I just hope they find a friend.”
Strong words from both actors… what do you all think?
