A new trailer for Star Trek Discovery was revealed at SDCC and it features loads of cool stuff… like Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd!
Anyway, also revealed at SDCC was something that Trek fans are having weird feelings about: Spock has a sister.
Whaaaaaaaaat?
Yup, turns out that Sonequa Martin-Green’s character Michael Burnham is the daughter of Spock’s mother, Amanda. His father, Sarek, is her surrogate dad.
Oh, and she too was raised on Vulcan.
Fans obviously looked a bit puzzled at the con and Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman reassured them: “We’re aware. You’ll see where it’s going, but we are staying consistent with canon.”
Huh. Didn’t see that coming.
