Hocus Pocus 2 in the works at Disney with original cast being sought

October 24th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It’s time to cast a new spell, guys…

We’re reported before that Disney has planned on doing a sequel or TV series based on the 1993 Halloween family classic Hocus Pocus (here), then we heard it was likely to be a reboot (here) which was a little disappointing as I’m a big fan of the original and it’s a Halloween tradition in our house to watch it (we’re going to the cinema this weekend to see it by coincidence), so while I’d love to see more of the Sanderson sisters, I’d rather it be Bette Midler as Winifred, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah, and Kathy Najimy as Mary rather than someone else in the roles.

But, it seems that sometimes that ‘ol black magic does indeed come good, as word is that Disney+ have seen sense are are trying to lure the original cast back for another Halloween adventure!

Workaholics writer Jen D’Angelo is set to write the script for Hocus Pocus 2, in which she has been asked to find a way to bring back the three sisters for more evil-doing but “none of them are attached at the moment, but the studio is hopeful that they’ll be involved with the sequel in some capacity. Since the project is still in early development at Disney’s forthcoming streaming service, it remains unclear whether they’ll be the main characters, or whether we’ll see them pass the proverbial torch to a new generation of witches”.

There’s no word at all if ‘the original cast’ includes Omri Katz as Max or Thora Birch as his younger sister – personally, I reckon it would simply be the sisters and a whole new cast around them.

And that’s all we know for now… but, needless to say, I’ll keep you posted as and when we hear more.

What say you all?
