You may recall before the release of The Rise of Skywalker at Christmas a leak online appeared of the script written by original writer/director Colin Trevorrow.
At the time I extensively broke down how it would have differed from the movie we got (here) as it was written before the Last of the Jedi and the death of Carrie Fisher. So it was considerably different than the movie we got… better? Hard to say, but it would be hard to argue that Rise of Skywalker was the pay-off we hoped the Star Wars saga would get.
Now youtuber Mr Sunday Movies has penned and animated his version of the script and it’s both beautiful and funny AND faithful to Trevorrow’s vision
Check it out below and let me know what you think…
Before JJ Abrams came on board for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Collin Trevorrow was slated to direct his own version, Duel Of The Fates. Vastly different to the Episode 9 that we ended up with it included no Emperor Palpatine, his Master Tor Vallum (using concepts from a cut character from the JJ version) more Rise Tico and General Leia, a double sided lightsaber for Rey, Kylo Ren as the main protagonist and about the same amount of the Knights Of Ren we actually got.
There’s also a Finn Stormtrooper uprising plot that unfortunately I cut due to time and money constraints. And please check out Ethan who lovingly animated this at and thanks for watching.
