So, we have done several stories on the big Doctor Who event (here), Time Lord Victorious already but now we have two vital parts of the tale.
Firstly, with Christopher Eccleston returning to Doctor Who with Big Finish next year (here), we have been pondering if we might see him in the Time Lord Victorious event – after all, he’s in the poster (above).
Well, sadly, we have an answer… and it may not be the one you want.
Producer James Goss says in the first video below: “No he won’t… technically.”
We already know that Paul McGann and David Tennant both appear in the event (and they were the Doctor’s regenerations before and after Eccleston) but alas, Eccleston won’t…
“I don’t know the intricate details,” says Goss, “but I think that all of the Time Lord Victorious content was recorded before Chris did the deal with Big Finish.”
Sadly, it seems that Eccleston only signed on days before the announcement (above) and by that stage Victorious was done and dusted.
“The entire thing, as it stands, is massive,” Goss said.
“And anything else that we announce is just going to make it more massive. Certainly to be doing something that encompasses immersive theatre and an escape room as well as books, audio, digital, gaming…you’re just there going, this is pretty much everything.
But, will we need to get all elements to enjoy the adventure?
“Whatever you pick up will enhance your enjoyment of the product, but also you won’t feel excluded if you just happen to not go and do that,” he says.

“It is an attempt to tell an epic Doctor Who story across every available platform apart from TV,” Goss continues but now in the second video.
“Similar things have been done with Star Wars very successfully. And what Doctor Who has done, being Doctor Who, is finding a way of taking it to the next level.
“It’s bringing together three incredibly popular Doctors, some fun monsters…it’s just basically trying to have an awful lot of fun across a whole lot of platforms across three or four months. And it’s honestly very very very exciting.”
The storytelling aspect of books, comics and audio adventures I completely understand, but I am a little flumoxed by how action figures fit into the story telling and what is the ‘merchandise’ going to be? Also, for fun, I promised myself I would keep up with the storytelling event but I reckon, given the current climate, the live experience might just be beyond my means.
Anyway, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant all together in the TARDIS facing an ancient, deadly enemy… that’s good enough for me!
