Disney+ working on a Star Wars: Mace Windu series? Samuel L Jackson to return?

September 14th, 2020 by Marc Comments

A new rumour has it that one of the coolest characters in the Star Wars universe may be set for a TV rebirth of sorts.

Yes, it seems that the badest muther in the universe, Mace Windu – made famous in the prequels by Samuel L Jackson – is possibly set for a ‘young Mace’ series.

Now, I have a few people on Twitter I trust and the word is this is definitely in discussion stages. And yes, it’s a Disney+ project.

Word is that, while Mace will mostly be played by a new actor, Jackson will return in some capacity – my money is to have him bookend episodes, narrating an earlier stage from his life fighting evil. Similar to what they did with Harrison Ford in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Of course, it raises the question of whether or not Mace survived his fight with Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. We know that Jackson and George Lucas both said he did (here), so could we see a Mace post-Sith? That would be awesome, a broken and battered Mace thinking back to a younger adventure? Yes, please!

We also know that Windu is heavily rumoured to be in the Obi-Wan series (here), so having him in a standalone series seems to make some sense.

If I hear more, you’ll be the first to know. What say you all, gang? Let me know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
