Excited about the upcoming Fast 9? Well, it seems that it will be a big thank you for fans who have been there since the start of the tale.
In a new interview about the movie, in which we meet Dominic Torrento’s brother, Jakob, played by John Cena, it will likely come as no big surprise that the movie will go waaaaay back into the lore… further back than any of the previous installments, in fact.
“The whole world has this excitement about this movie coming out, but for those who have been with the franchise, it’s even more special,” says Diesel.
“Because, if you can remember the first movie, you are now going to go before the first movie and understand the first movie even more… that’s cool stuff. I’m a [Dungeons & Dragons] head, so that’s like origins stuff. To see family members you never thought you would have seen – it’s gonna kind of blow your mind. We’ve been wanting to know: where was Dom before he became Dom? Who were his influences? That’s going to be really rich with story, and a lot of fun to see.”
This makes sense as we know that Diesel’s real son, Vincent Sinclair, will play young Dom in the movie and, with the introduction of Dom’s brother – we know a little about Dom’s childhood so far and it’s likely that his brother is to another mother – we shouldn’t be too surprised to learn that this movie will go where none of the others have.
We also learn from the star that there will be the revisiting of a scene from the first movie but this time with a new perspective, much the way Fast & Furious 6 revisited Han’s death from Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift.
In the first movie we see Dom and Brian (the late Paul Walker) race for the first time and Dom wins. However, Brian says to him “I almost had you!” and it seems there’s more going on in that scene than we previously knew. “What’s so exciting about F9 is we revisit that moment from a different perspective.” What does this mean? No idea, but, as a big F&F fan, I can’t wait to see what they do with it.
Are you looking forward to seeing F9? There’s a good chance this will be the first movie I see in a cinema since Wonder Woman 1984 before Christmas, so for several reasons, I can’t f*#king wait to see this.
You?
