Has Disney+ found its Sabine Wren for the Ahsoka series?

August 31st, 2021 by Marc Comments

With the Ahsoka Tano series being developed at Disney+ and starring Rosario Dawson in the titular role, returning from her performance in The Mandalorian season 2, we have a rough idea of story and who may appear.

When we met Ahsoka in The Mandalorian she was looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans of Star Wars: Rebels will recall that at the end of that series Ahsoka and Mandalorian Sabine Wren were trying to find their friend and trainee Jedi Ezra Bridger who was last seen being pulled into deep space with Thrawn. If Ahsoka is still looking for Thrawn, then it’s a fair guess we may also see Sabine, Ezra and Thrawn at some stage.

And, with that, it seems we may have our Sabine Wren.

Word is that Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Havana Rose Liu (Mayday) were in the running for the role, but The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Tati Gabrielle (above) may have nabbed the role and, going by appearances alone, she’s perfect for the role.

Now, we know that fans are calling for Tiya Sircar to have the role, given that she voiced the character in Rebels, and we also know that Disney do cast the actors that played the characters in the animated series – like Katee Sackoff playing Bo-Katan (here) but we also know that that’s not always the case with Ashley Eckstein, the actress who brought Ahsoka to life in The Clone Wars and later in Rebels, was replaced by Dawson when it came to live-action, so it’s hard to know why Sircar – who I’ve met and is the nicest person on earth by the way – was passed over here.

One thing we feel confident about is that, if this all plays out, this series will be about bringing Ezra and, most excitingly, Thrawn into the live-action world of Star Wars.

And we can’t wait.
