WATCH: Teaser for animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, slithers out

November 6th, 2025 by Marc Comments

Happy Stranger Things Day, everyone! Here’s your first look at the new spinoff series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.

The animated series marks the second spinoff from the Netflix hit series after the hit (and brilliant) West End show, Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

In season one of the main show, Will Byers went missing on November 6, 1983, kicking off the whole story, which is why today is Stranger Things Day.

The new animated series debuts in 2026 and will star the voice talents of Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ej (Elisha) Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Additional voice cast includes Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

In the announcement, below, creators Matt and Ross Duffer say that one of their first ideas for a spinoff was an animated series “to evoke a feeling of an ’80s cartoon”.

Interestingly, the series, which is CGI (em, like all the great animated shows), takes place in the winter of 1985, between seasons 2 and 3 of the series, although how it fits into the overall storyline is still to be revealed.

It’s definitely a cool idea, but I think it’ll be interesting to see if the audience is there for an animated show that is technically going to act as season 2.5 of the show.

Anyways, I will be watching, but I know you have thoughts and I wanna hear ’em.

Something survived in ’85. Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, a new adventure in animation, coming to Netflix in 2026
