Happy Christmas! James Gunn has revealed who will be playing Superman’s mortal enemy, Brainiac, in Superman: Man of Tomorrow, when it arrives in July 2027.
German actor Lars Eidinger will step up as the DCU’s next big villain when David Corenswet’s Superman steps out for his next big screen adventure. This will be the first time Brainiac has appeared on the big screen.
A bit about Lars Eidinger:
Brainiac is a superintelligence from the planet Colu who is arguably Superman’s biggest enemy after Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), and while we know nothing of the plot yet, it’s a safe bet, given images released previously by Gunn showed Lex and Superman fighting side by side, below.
Yeah, it’s pretty clear Brainiac will be the villain in Superman: Man of Tomorrow
Eidinger, right, has starred in movies such as Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper, and Netflix’s White Noise, for those wanting to get an idea of his talent and how he might embody this particular genius AI.
“In our worldwide search for Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU, Lars,” Gunn wrote on social media, below.
Man of Tomorrow is expected to begin filming with Gunn directing again in April next year for a July 9th, 2027 release date.
But fear not, in the meantime, you can expect to see Corenswet’s Superman in next year’s Supergirl.
