While it currently looks like the Ted series won’t be getting a third season, despite being a massive hit for Peacock (it’s wild expensive, hi), we have our first teaser for the animated sequel series, as well as an official title.

The new series, which has no release date yet, is – shocker!- called Ted: The Animated Series and will act as a sequel to the Ted movies, unlike the previous TV series, which was a prequel to the movies. The animated series will also feature the return of the movie stars Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth

This series reunites MacFarlane, who reprises his role as the voice of Ted, with his big screen castmates: Mark Wahlberg, as the voice of Ted’s best friend, John; Amanda Seyfried, as the voice of John’s wife, Sam; and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn, says Peacock.

Seth McFarlane discusses Ted season 3, potential third Ted movie and The Orville season 4

Picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last movie, John and his thunder-buddy Ted are neighbors, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs. Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other’s bad ideas about marriage, parenting, and the challenges of adult life.

I love both the movies and I thought the series, especially season 2, was superb, so I will be waiting for this one with much enthusiasm.

Oh, and I’d expect a trailer very soon.

So, more Ted on our screens? Thoughts? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ’em all.

Luke Skywalker animated series coming? Is this why Mara Jade is a no-go character for Star Wars writers?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
