WATCH: Doctor Who features in two major BBC events this past week

Two big, high-profile productions featuring Doctor Who screened in the last few days, proving that even though it’s severely tarnished, Doctor Who is still a show that deserves the spotlight. And good writers. And respect.

Destination: Glasgow 2026! Can Sir Chris Hoy and comedian Greg McHugh get their majesties, the King and Queen, left, to the Commonwealth Games in time (and space)?

Oh, and as a bonus, we got the wonderful Sylvester McCoy back in the familiar Seventh Doctor outfit, looking for his stolen TARDIS. That made the whole thing worthwhile.

Next up, given that Doctor Who is currently on life support and out for tender (which the BBC say they really want to win… but isn’t it their show? Anyways), it’s been fun to see it feature so prominently in two productions.

The first, above, and the second a desperate attempt by the BBC to get people to keep buying TV Licenses by asking ‘What Has The BBC Done For Me?’ which screened during the World Cup Final. You can see the full list of guest stars in the clip here.

Anyway, the Daleks pop up around 3:45.

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
