A new live-action Ghostbusters film could be on the horizon, as Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman is reporting that Sony is developing a project titled Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street!
According to Richtman, Josh Miller is writing the film, with Miller’s previous credits including Sonic the Hedgehog and the holiday action-comedy Violent Night, with these details awaiting official confirmation from Sony, writes our guy Jason over at Ghostbusters News.
Tidbit:
The title is clearly a merging of A Nightmare on Elm St and Miracle on 34th Street, the Christmas movie, perhpas implying that we could be about to get a Ghostbusters movie set at Christmas and I have to say, that idea makes me feel a little giddy!

The report comes as the franchise already has more paranormal adventures in the pipeline, beginning with Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming series, Ghostbusters: Night Shift, slated to debut in 2027. Set in New York City in 1994, five years after the events of Ghostbusters II, the series follows a group of young, untrained New Yorkers forced to strap on Proton Packs when a new wave of supernatural terror hits the city. Executive producers include Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, and Dan Aykroyd, alongside Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, and Amie Karp.
Beyond Night Shift, Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are also developing a separate animated Ghostbusters feature film, with The Willoughbys director Kris Pearn previously reported as attached to direct. Plot details and a release date remain under wraps.
For now, Richtman’s report gives fans another potential project to keep an eye on, and we’ll keep Ghostbusters News readers posted as further updates become available!
