Happy Stranger Things Day, folks…
We all heard rumours that there was to be a big announcement from the world of Stranger Things today and we have it… an all-new live-action spinoff series called Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure and it seems like it’s going to blow the world of Stranger Things even wider open than the Upside Down.
While Stranger Things has already had an animated spinoff, a stage show and many comic and book series, it looks like we’re finally getting a live-action series and it might feature… aliens??!
Tidbit:
Original series stars Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin have been spotted filming a mystery project around Chicago… including using Iron Man helmets as props (here & here).
No word on what it could be for, but the safe money is either a Super Bowl ad or a promo for the announcement for Stranger Things stage show, The First Shadow, which is expected to get a release on Netflix in the near future for those fans who weren’t able to get to London or New York to see it.
Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure will hit Netflix in 2028 and will take us back to Marion, Nevada in 1955 – Marion is the birthplace of the main series villain, Henry Creel, by the way – and the teaser below seems to show us a UFO coming out of the clouds above an army base below.
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer are returning, along with regular series writer Kate Trefry, and it will take place earlier than The First Shadow stage play, the earliest bit of Stranger Things lore so far, which focuses on a young Henry Creel and takes place in 1959.
“We’ve been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating,” say the Duffer brothers in a statement about the new series.

“It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new … actually, we’re not allowed to say any more. Now, on to casting. In the meantime — watch the skies, nerds!”
Ok, so not only does the teaser seem to feature a UFO, but the series is called Other Worlds and “Watch the skies,” really? Yeah, this is about aliens…
“It is my insane honor and privilege to be bringing this new chapter of Stranger Things to life alongside them and our incredible director, Joe Wright,” says Trefry.
“We have had the time of our lives returning to all the horror, wonder and mystery of the flagship, while also telling a wholly new story, one we hope will blow your minds and break your hearts all over again. There are so many more mysteries to explore. Welcome to Other Worlds.”

Producer Shawn Levy said: “With Other Worlds, the Duffer Brothers and Kate Trefry craft a new ensemble and adventure that is imbued with the DNA of our flagship series while exploring a new era, setting, and all-new characters, themes, and mythology — the seeds of which may have been planted in Hawkins, but now venture into other worlds of spectacle, action, and emotion.”
The series will film in Nevada as well as being set there. Marion, in Stranger Things lore, is the centre of all the weirdness – it’s where Dr Martin Brenner ran a government research project that cracked open the world and led to the Upside Down and created the monster Henry Creel became. Are they going to say that this was all caused by aliens? Are they tapping into the new way of thinking about UFOs – or UAPs – that they don’t come from outer space but rather from other dimensions? We’ll find out soon enough…

Can a new Stranger Things series have the same success the original did? Can it thrive without the original cast? Will we see the OGs in cameos, perhaps? Who knows. Well, the Duffers, I suppose.
