Dan Aykroyd: We have a script for Ghostbusters 3

May 14th, 2013 by Marc Comments

It seems that it’s a case of another week, another opportunity for Dan Aykroyd to confirm Ghostbusters III is going ahead – honest!

While promoting his Crystal Head Vodka’s 50th anniversary Rolling Stones edition late last week, Dan got chatting, as Dan does, about Ghostbusters III and it seems that things are actually moving ahead –  but we’ve been here before, you and I: “I’m going to be meeting (GBI & GBII director) Ivan [Reitman] on June 7 in Cleveland, which is exciting as it’s been on and off for a few years but we’re really looking at a solid script now. And I can say that it will be focused on the new generation – think the latest Star Trek.”

Curious that he mentions new Trek – will there be a part of the story where the boys in grey go back in time and things are changed? Aykroyd also mentioned the plot, albeit briefly: “We’re very interested in the anti-matter research that’s going on in the world. I look at CERN and think it could be a breeding ground for the paranormal.”

Hmmmmm… a cross dimensional rift, perhaps? Resulting in the GB team being taken and replaced by a new squad (em, hasn’t that been covered already by Eric Burnham’s ongoing series at IDW?)… who knows, but it seems that this is one project that does not know when to quit…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
