SPECULATION: Could Bryan Cranston be gearing up for the role of Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice?

August 27th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

We all remember last year’s casting rumours shortly after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was announced and the casting rumours had Bryan Cranston practically bagging the role of Lex Luther (here), which eventually went to Jesse Eisenberg.

Well at the 66th Primetime Emmys Breaking Bad won a tonne of gongs with Cranston winning best actor in a drama series. Interestingly, what was strikingly visible was the mustache he was rocking at the event. Could Cranston be taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon? Further information from Batman News further cements the possibility that Commissioner Gordon will indeed be making an appearance in Dawn of Justice.

The fact that Ben Affleck’s Batman is going to be about 45 years old in Dawn of Justice has us presuming most of the Batman characters that we have come to know and love throughout different movies and mediums will exist in Zack Snyder’s Batman universe. So it seems likely that Commissioner Gordon will be making an appearance.

Fans Tim Reinman and Tim Malin sent Batman News new hi-res set photos (below) hinting that the Gotham police force will be making an appearance in the movie. In the set photos the crew have transformed the old Detroit Police Station into the Gotham City Jail and been filming there for the past couple of days. This doesn’t mean that there will be no Blackgate Prison as the jail is probably part of Gotham City Police Department.

There is no word on what exactly is going on inside the Gotham City Jail, but this could mean that Commissioner Gordon will be there. And quite frankly, who better to take on the role than Bryan Cranston.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Zack Snyder is directing.

The cast includes Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman in the film, Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot is Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons is Alfred Pennyworth and Ray Fisher is Victor Stone/Cyborg. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also reprise their roles in the sequel. Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Scoot McNairy have unknown roles. Jason Momoa is all but confirmed as Aquaman and rumored to appear.

It is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on March 25th, 2016. It’s not yet known if the April 29th date in UK still stands.
