Arrow producer Greg Berlanti talks Ra’s al-Ghul

September 10th, 2014 by Dave Bowling Comments

Greg Berlanti could probably do with a sit-down. As exec producer of both Arrow and The Flash he has been promoting the hell out of both recently.

When attending a premiere of The Flash’s pilot at Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, he gave a few words to Comic Book Resource about why Matt Nable (below) is the right Ra’s al-Ghul for Arrow: “Performance, performance, performance. You know, I think we have a great history that we enjoy with the show, and when you have a character like that, the character is the name [value]. We just look for who feels the best for what we imagine in our head, and we knew we wanted someone who felt very different than Slade Wilson felt, because that was sort of a two-year build up. We had a whole different kind of vibe that we wanted and Matt Nable is that. I can’t wait for people to see him do it.”

When asked if he’d heard Liam Neeson saying that he’d take the role if it was offered, he responded: “I heard it! You know, I think he’s very gracious to make that comment, but we were really blessed to find our Ra’s al-Ghul.”

Man, we can’t wait to see where Nable takes the character!

Arrow Season 3 is scheduled to start on 8 October 2014.

Dave was born at an early age to parents of both sexes. He has been a self-confessed geek for as long as he can remember, having been raised through the 80s on a steady diet of Doctor Who, Star Trek, Red Dwarf and (sigh) Knight Rider. Throw the usual assortment of Saturday morning cartoons into the mix and we have something quite exceptional: someone with an encyclopaedic knowledge of utter tosh; a love of giant robots and spaceships fighting; and the strange desire to leap tall buildings in a single bound while wearing his underpants over his trousers. The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
