April 7th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Yes! Something awesome to pass the lockdown time and, best of all, it’s free!

Big Finish, who create the amazing Doctor Who (and much more) audio adventures have stepped up during this time and every week until this all ends, will be giving fans a FREE audio download,

And the first is Doctor Who: The War Doctor: The Innocent which you can download below by simply creating a Big Finish account.

The adventure stars the late, great John Hurt alongside his companion, played by Jacqueline Pearce and was written by voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs.

It’s available until 23:59 (UK time) on 12 April 2020.

Here’s the official synopsis:

1.1 The Innocent by Nicholas Briggs

As the Daleks mass their time fleet for a final assault on Gallifrey, something ancient is waiting for them at Omega One. And a sacrifice must be made.

Arch-manipulator and Time Lord strategist, Cardinal Ollistra receives shock news of the Doctor’s death.

Meanwhile, on the planet Keska, a parochial war has returned to plague a peaceful civilisation after decades of tranquillity. But how can such a war have any connection with the great Time War which, at any one moment in the whole of eternity, could threaten to tear the universe apart?

If only the Doctor were still alive.

Starring John Hurt and Jacqueline Pearce, this story is notable for being the first Big Finish release featuring a “new series” Doctor. Set during the Time War, it concerns the War Doctor’s recovery on the peaceful planet Keska.

Get it downloaded and stay save with The Doctor.

Thanks Big Finish, this is all sorts of awesome!

If you want the free goodie then make your way here before April 12th!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
